There are tons of things to do in the city of angels, but sometimes the scene needs to be changed up a bit. If you go to the Hollywood Bowl, you’ll see pure daperness at it’s finest. The weather is perfect 99% of the time so checking out a concert at the Bowl poses little risk. Sometimes you just want to chill under the sun or moon and enjoy yourself without the usual “nightlife crowd”–this is where the Hollywood Bowl comes in.
No matter what type of music you like, the Bowl has you covered. I recommend you find a concert that fits your particular taste to truly enjoy what the venue has to offer. They have many concerts to choose from, some during the day and others during the night. I prefer going at night because it’s cooler and more relaxing for me. There’s nothing better than drinking a cold beer under the moonlight while listening to some great music.
Perhaps the most popular feature of the Hollywood Bowl is that you can bring your own food and drinks, depending on the concert. Plenty of times I’ve had a picnic on the lawn before the show and drank a couple of glasses of wine, saving myself about $100 in the process. Most venues shun the idea of letting concert-goers bring in their own food and drink, but the Hollywood Bowl does a nice job in accommodating those that want to by providing them with picnic areas throughout the location.
Another great thing about the Hollywood Bowl is that there is more to it than just music. During concerts, the Bowl has a huge projector screen that shows movie clips and relaxing scenes to make the experience even better. The moon and stars also add a nice touch that your date will be sure to enjoy.
To date, my favorite concert experience at the Hollywood Bowl has been the John Williams concert that is performed every year during summer. John Williams is the famous composer for great classic films like Jaws, Jurassic Park, Superman, Back to the Future, Star Wars, Harry Potter, and much more. During his concerts, the projectors play scenes from every movie he is playing music to–which adds a whole different perspective to the sounds.
The Hollywood Bowl is a dapper experience at a very reasonable price. If you get the opportunity, be sure to check it out while you’re in L.A.
