If you’ve been holding out on getting an iPhone because the monthly plans were too expensive, now’s your chance to get one. Starting June 29, Virgin Mobile will begin selling the iPhone 4 and 4S with monthly plans starting at $30–including unlimited data and messaging. So, what’s the catch? Well, you have to pay full price for the iPhone. The 16GB 4S will retail for $649 and the 8GB iPhone 4 will be available for $549. Still not a bad deal if you consider how much you’ll be saving on your monthly plan. Watch the video below of Sir Richard Branson explaining why Virgin Mobile is different than other cell phone companies.

This entire idea has left me with mixed feelings. Apple stands to make a large amount of money but then again I highly doubt the multi-billion dollar business needs it. I also revert back to how would Steve Jobs feel about this….for a man obsessed with control, I doubt he would implement this strategy. However it is Tim Cook’s company now so we will see how it plays out over the next 6-12 months.
@anthonypompliano I feel it’s a great idea because I don’t think it’s fair for the “big” cell phone companies to have a monopoly on the iPhone. Not everyone wants to (or can afford) a $100/month phone bill. With Virgin, we’ll be able to use an awesome phone at a very reasonable price. Apple doesn’t care how much we pay monthly, they just care about selling the phones. I don’t know how Steve Jobs would feel about this deal but I don’t see why he would be against it. What do you think?
