San Diego art gallery, Double Break, is presenting a new exhibition entitled Where My Cones At? Curated by Chicago-based artist Ryan Travis Christian, the blockbuster exhibit features the work of over 120 artists that are all responding to a seemingly simple request–contribute one small-scale, unframed, black and white piece of art. The result is a staggering array of work in a variety of media, produced by a wealth of both emerging and internationally acclaimed artists. Christain, himself a widely exhibited artist, frequent curator, and occasional DJ, had the the following to say:
“A lot of these artists are friends, people who I have worked with or people that I admire. Our circles cross paths in many degrees and the roster of artists is more or less a giant pool of nepotism. Many of them depend on color and I thought it would be interesting to present them with a challenge; others already make top- notch monochrome work. I thought this would be a fun summer show, and a chance to give San Diegans in-person exposure to artists that otherwise don’t usually show in the area.”
